April 7, 2026 | Brock Johnston

Ankeny, Iowa - The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) today announced the launch of its new monthly podcast, The Bean Scene, designed to connect Iowa's soybean farmers with timely, relevant information to support well-informed decisions on the farm. As planting season gets underway across much of the state, access to up-to-date insights has never been more critical-making The Bean Scene a timely resource that brings listeners closer to the people and perspectives shaping modern agriculture, and highlights where soy meets everyday life.

Hosted by Maxwell Schaeffer, the podcast features candid conversations with farmers, industry leaders and emerging voices who are redefining the role of soy in a rapidly evolving agricultural landscape. Each episode blends personal stories with timely industry updates to help farmers stay informed and ahead of the curve.

"The Bean Scene is about more than just soybeans, it's about the people and ideas driving our industry forward," said ISA President Tom Adam of Harper. "We're excited to share stories that resonate with farmers while delivering insights they can use on the farm and beyond."

The debut episode features a dynamic lineup of guests, including Tom Halverson, CEO of CoBank; April Hemmes, a Hampton-area farmer and former ISA and United Soybean Board director; and Iowa FFA State President Chloe Zittergruen. Together, they offer candid perspectives on the structural shifts farmers are facing, efforts to bridge the rural-urban divide and the next generation shaping the future of farming.

Through resources like The Bean Scene, ISA continues its commitment to delivering value to Iowa's soybean farmers by investing in education, outreach and innovation that supports informed decision-making and long-term success for growers.

Farmers and other industry stakeholders are encouraged to listen and subscribe to The Bean Scene wherever they get their podcasts.
