The City of San Rafael is aware of reports that federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may be conducting operations in the San Francisco Bay Area, and possibly within our community. At this time, the City has no specific informationabout any such activity, as ICE does not coordinate with local law enforcement or share when or where they conduct operations. While therehave been reports indicating that San Franciscois no longer the focus of enforcement action, the situation is very fluid, andthe City has no information about the federal government'splansfor immigration enforcement.
The San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) remains fully compliant with California State Law and the California Values Act (SB 54). In line with state law and SRPD Policy 414, SRPD does not take part in federal immigration enforcement or use resources for that purpose. SRPD's mission is to ensure public safety and provide fair, equitable service to all community members. For more information, please view this presentation to the Police Advisory and Accountability Committee here.
