The City of West Sacramento has extended the public comment period for the Notice of Preparation (NOP) of an Environmental Impact Report for the Brar Farms Residential Development Project. As the Lead Agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the City must process the application and evaluate its potential environmental effects prior to its consideration by the Planning Commission and City Council. Public comments received during the environmental review process will be considered in that analysis. At this stage, no decision has been made; the environmental review is intended solely to inform future deliberations. The ultimate decision to approve, conditionally approve, or deny the project rests with the City Council.
The Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is expected to be released for public review in early 2026. Once available, it will be posted on the City's website and noticed by mail. A 45-day public comment period will follow. After the close of the comment period, the City's environmental consultant will prepare a Final EIR responding to all comments. The project will then proceed to public hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council, anticipated in late spring or summer 2026. Prior to each hearing, mailed notice will be provided to property owners and residents within 500 feet of the project site, and updates will continue to be posted online
Any interested individuals, groups, and agencies may provide the City of West Sacramento with written comments on topics to be addressed in the EIR. Comments should be provided no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025. Please send all written comments to:
