ADVISORY - ALLEGHENY COUNTY - Shapiro Administration to Highlight 2026-27 Budget Investments to Cleanup Hazardous Sites, RevitalizeCommunities

Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Jessica Shirley will highlight 2026-27 budget investments in the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act (HSCA) program alongside state, local, and community officials at Hazelwood Green - a revitalized former steel plant turned manufacturing and tech hub and community green space.

HSCA funding supported DEP's environmental oversight and provided nearly $1.2 million in Industrial Sites Reuse Program grants to help advance redevelopment of the site. The 2026-27 budget provides $20 million in funding to the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act fund to ensure that cleanup of hazardous sites and revitalization of communities can continue.
