30 March, 2026

The Economic and Social Council held a Special Meeting on Credit Ratings, chaired by H.E. Amb. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN and Vice-President of ECOSOC.

The meeting brought together Member States, credit rating agencies, international institutions and investors to discuss the role of credit ratings in shaping access to finance, the cost of capital, and countries' ability to advance sustainable development.

Armenia emphasized the importance of enhancing the accuracy, transparency and long-term orientation of credit rating methodologies, while reducing excessive reliance on mechanistic thresholds. Strengthening dialogue, improving country capacity, and promoting more forward-looking and development-oriented approaches remain essential priorities.
