DENVER - Today, Governor Polis issued two Executive Orders memorializing his verbal disaster declarations for the Indian Creek Fire in Jackson County and the 310 Fire in Garfield County.
The Executive Orders memorialize the verbal declaration for the Indian Creek Fire from August 5, 2026 and the verbal declaration for the 310 Fire from August 7, 2026. These Executive Orders enable state and federal agencies to coordinate fire suppression, response, consequence management, mitigation, and recovery efforts. These Executive Orders also employ the Colorado National Guard in an unarmed capacity to assist with evacuations and mitigation. Lastly, the Executive Orders suspend certain Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) statutes and regulations to allow for more flexibility for emergency medical service providers to assist in fire recovery under the guidance of the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS).
As of August 9, 2026, the Indian Creek Fire burned 30 acres in Jackson County and was 100% contained. As of August 19, 2026, the 310 Fire burned 603 acres in Garfield County and was 100% contained.
