Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Delaware Governor Matt Meyer have officially proclaimed October 15 as Credit Union Day in their respective states, recognizing the significant contributions credit unions make to their members, local economies, and communities. The proclamations coincide with the global celebration of International Credit Union Day, which this year embraces the theme, "Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World," underscoring the trust, stability, and financial security credit unions provide in an increasingly complex and uncertain world.
In his proclamation, Governor Moore recognizes credit unions as "essential pillars of the state's economy," highlighting their role in supporting small businesses, expanding opportunities for homeownership, and strengthening the financial well-being of communities across Maryland.
Governor Meyer's proclamation reinforces the credit union philosophy of "people helping people," emphasizing the value of competitive rates, personalized service, and financial education. It also recognizes credit unions' ongoing commitment to strengthening Delaware's economy and improving the financial well-being of members and their families.
International Credit Union Day is sponsored by the World Council of Credit Unions.
