On 24 August, Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski represented Poland at the video conference of the Coalition of the Willing marking 35 years of Ukraine's independence. Poland was the first country to recognise the independence of our neighbour in 1991.

The members of the Coalition of the Willing reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine's defence struggle. The country has been defending itself against Russian aggression since 2014. The leaders once again called on Russia to end the hostilities and abide by international law.

They agreed that further indicators of a weakening Russian economy prove that the policy of international pressure on Russia is effective and should be continued.

The officials found that maintaining Ukraine's air defence capabilities in its own territory remains a particularly critical challenge for the country's security. They declared willingness to help ensure the continuity of energy supplies ahead of winter.
