Escambia County invites the community to a grand reopening and ribbon cutting event Thursday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. to celebrate new amenities and improvements at Perdido Kids Park.
The event will take place at the park, located at 10004 Gulf Beach Highway. One or more Escambia County Commissioners will be in attendance.
"Perdido Kids Park is incredibly important to the District 2 community, and I'm excited to reopen it to the public after making significant improvements to the playground," District 2 Commissioner Mike Kohler said. "I'm especially excited that we were able to preserve several original components of the park that hold sentimental value for many families, including the original children's handprint wall, climbing trees, and the airplanes. Our Parks and Recreation team has been working incredibly hard on this project, and I look forward to seeing many families and children of all ages enjoy this new and improved park in District 2."
Improvements to Perdido Kids Park include new durable playground equipment, new ADA accessible amenities, new fencing and more. In addition to retaining the original children's handprint wall, climbing trees, and airplane rocker toys, the project also kept the existing swings and picnic table pavilion.
