HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee, attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Westmoreland Fire Station in Huntington, W.Va. This fire station will serve the Westmoreland neighborhood and surrounding areas and will play a crucial role in the city's emergency response network. In Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24), Senator Capito was able to secure $4,165,000 in funding for the project, which was critical in helping address space for living for the firefighters and proper equipment storage.
"This ribbon cutting marks a major step forward for the Westmoreland neighborhood and the City of Huntington. I was proud to secure the funding to help make this new fire station a reality," Senator Capito said. "This new station represents an important investment in public safety, community resilience, and local jobs. It will support the dedicated men and women of the Huntington Fire Department and strengthen the entire region for years to come."
"The new station the City of Huntington Fire Department is opening today to serve the Westmoreland community is possible because of Senator Capito's support. We are thankful for her hard work and dedication to public safety," Greg Fuller, Fire Chief of the City of Huntington said.
