Bestselling Author J.A. Jance to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, September 24^th, 2025

Puyallup, WA - September 17, 2025 - Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Puyallup, WA bookstore on Wednesday, September 24^th. The new Barnes & Noble will offer 19,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items and more. The new Puyallup Barnes & Noble is located in South Hill Mall (3500 South Meridian St., Puyallup, WA 98373), near JCPenney, in the former Super Jump Party Zone space.

The new Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM PT on Wednesday the 24^th, with bestselling author J.A. Jance cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her latest, The Girl from Devil's Lake, one week ahead of its scheduled release.

J.A. Jance is an award-winning writer of mysteries and thrillers with over 70 novels in print. The booksellers at the new Puyallup Barnes & Noble are honored to have her join them in this celebration.

"It has been over a decade since the Borders Bookstore closed just across the road from where we are to open this beautiful new Barnes & Noble," said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. "Our booksellers are delighted to bring back a bookstore of such scale to Puyallup."

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.

The Puyallup location is one of three new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in September, alongside new stores in Florida and Maryland. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.

The design of the Puyallup store showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain. The new Puyallup Barnes & Noble will cover roughly 19,000 square feet, including a café, and carry all the best books, as well as a wide range of toys, games and the usual paper and gifting items found at Barnes & Noble.
