The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating an apparent murder-suicide after discovering a Lincoln couple deceased inside their home in near south Lincoln.

On Friday, October 3, around 10:45 a.m., LPD responded to a check welfare in the area of S. 14th and Sumner streets. During the investigation, officers determined there was an urgent need to go inside the home to make sure both occupants were safe.

When they entered, they found a 51-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman deceased on the floor of a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. Their identities are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

Based on the injuries and evidence at the scene, LPD is investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide and does not believe there is an ongoing public safety threat.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the LPD non-emergency number at 402-441-6000. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600, report online at lincolncrimestoppers.com or download the free P3 app.
