AUC Chairperson hosted the quarterly working luncheon with the UNSC P5 and A3

This afternoon, the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, hosted the quarterly working luncheon with the Permanent Members of the ambassadors of UN Nations Security Council (UNSC) (P5) & the African Members of the Council (A3) accredited to the AU.

The exchanges focused on a range of pressing peace, security & humanitarian issues on the continent, including the AU Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (@aussom_), the situation in #Sudan, developments in the #Sahel & the Great Lakes regions, the continental response to the #Ebola outbreak, as well as the reform of the UN Security Council.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a candid & constructive exchange on shared priorities & areas of common concern. The ambassadors welcomed the continued value of the quarterly consultations as an important platform for strengthening strategic coordination & enhancing coherence between the AU & the UNSCl on matters relating to international peace & security.

They also expressed their appreciation for the regularity of these consultations & the frank & open nature of the exchanges.
