Simplification of the European Vehicle Authorisation Process
As part of the European Simplification Agenda, CER intends to submit proposals to improve and streamline the European Vehicle Authorisation Process conducted by the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA).
This position paper argues that administrative processes linked to rail vehicle testing, certification and vehicle authorisation (VA), especially in the context of the retrofitting of entire fleets, need to be streamlined.
The paper outlines proposals to make the authorisation process more efficient, faster and less costly for applicants, thereby increasing the availability of rolling stock and reducing the time to market.
