Saline, Mich. and Austin, Texas-May 28, 2026
Advancing care for complex diseases requires collaboration across healthcare providers, researchers, nonprofits, and technology organizations. Through its longstanding work supporting the healthcare industry, Oracle understands the importance of helping accelerate research while improving resources for patients and families navigating serious diagnoses.
That's why Oracle is supporting ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, a Saline, Michigan nonprofit that funds pediatric brain cancer research and helps families facing diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) and diffuse midline glioma (DMG), two aggressive and often fatal pediatric brain tumors.
"When my son Chad was diagnosed with DIPG, we refused to accept that he had no options," said Tammi Carr, ChadTough Defeat DIPG co-founder. "Children facing DIPG don't have time to wait for a cure. Support from partners like Oracle helps us move research forward faster and bring more hope to families."
The organization was inspired by Chad Carr and Michael Mosier, two boys whose families confronted a stark reality in 2014 after their diagnoses: DIPG had few treatment options and limited funding to support the search for new ones.
The Carr and Mosier families first created separate foundations before joining forces in 2021, creating the organization now known as ChadTough Defeat DIPG. Over the past decade, the foundation has galvanized the DIPG and DMG research community, funded promising new science, connected researchers, and supported children and their families in the fight against brain cancer.
At the time of Chad and Michael's passing in 2015, total funding for DIPG research ranged from $3 million and $5 million per year. Today, ChadTough Defeat DIPG has funded over $44 million for pediatric brain cancer research across 47 institutions and 105 researchers around the world.
Along with funding research, ChadTough Defeat DIPG offers families free support through My DIPG Navigator. Launched in 2022, the program connects families with pediatric oncology nurses who help them navigate treatment options and access trusted information. The program has supported more than 600 families so far.
"Progress toward successfully treating and curing rare pediatric cancers requires sustained research, strong collaboration, and support for the families navigating these diagnoses," said Colleen Cassity, global head of Social Impact and executive director of Oracle Health Foundation and Oracle Education Foundation. "We are honored to support ChadTough's work to advance research and strengthen resources for children and their families."
This commitment is part of Oracle's broader investments in the State of Michigan and Saline Township.
