Thales demonstrates agility of Storm 2 with new counter-unmanned aerial systems capability

Thales has unveiled new developments to STORM 2 - a next-generation individual cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA) node. STORM 2 incorporates a software defined radio that can be rapidly configured to address different use cases. Originally designed to provide protection from radio-controlled improvised explosive devices, Thales has worked with our customer to rapidly develop STORM 2 to provide a dismounted counter-unmanned aerial systems capability.

STORM 2 is a lightweight system that covers a wide range of frequencies. STORM 2 provides a reactive jamming capability, enabling each individual soldier to carry their own counter-radio frequency capability and avoiding the need for bulky manpacks. STORM 2 drives improved freedom of operation for each soldier and improves protection for a squad in cluttered environments where buildings might obstruct the protective bubble of a manpack.
