Free, family-friendly book fair and meet-the-author event on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Wheaton
Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will host its inaugural Local Author Showcase from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center, located at 11701 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton.
The free, family-friendly event will celebrate books, storytelling, and community while giving residents the chance to meet and connect with authors from across Montgomery County.
"Montgomery County is home to an incredible community of writers whose voices reflect our shared diversity, curiosity, and imagination," said County Executive Marc Elrich. "Events like the Local Author Showcase strengthen the bond between our residents and their public libraries: places where everyone is encouraged to explore, connect, and create."
The Showcase will feature a Friends of the Library book sale, author tables for meet-and-greets, and a mix of panels, discussions, and reading activities. Visitors can also network with fellow writers and readers. For a list of participating authors and event details, visit the MCPL website.
"Libraries are where stories take root and communities come together," said MCPL Director Darcell Graham. "Our Local Author Showcase highlights the extraordinary creativity in Montgomery County and gives readers a chance to discover new voices close to home."
The selection of authors to participate is now closed for this event. However, writers interested in future events are invited to apply when the 2026 call opens.
