Cooler temperatures can increase power usage and bills

Cooler temperatures are here in our region, meaning some customers are turning on heaters to take the chill out of the air. Producing heat requires a lot of electricity, which can drive up your energy usage and bills.

Customers don't have to compromise comfort to keep winter energy bills down. Entergy's online Bill Toolkit connects customers to bill management, energy efficiency and financial assistance resources. This new resource helps our customers explore simple ways they can lower their electricity use and costs.

Bill management resources

Customers can choose when, where and how to pay with our bill management resources, including:

  • myAdvisor dashboard gives customers an estimate of what projected energy usage costs could be by the end of the billing cycle.
  • PaperFREE billing allows customers to get their Entergy bill delivered directly to their email as soon as it posts and instant access to two years of billing history.
  • AutoPay allows customers to avoid late fees, writing checks and paying for postage by having their bill automatically deduct from their bank account.
  • Pick-A-Date allows customers to take full control of their budget by paying their bill on the date that works best for them.
  • Level Billing allows customers to "level out" seasonal fluctuations, making their energy bill more consistent every month.

Resources for customers in need

For customers experiencing financial hardship, we offer a variety of bill assistance options, including:

  • Deferred payment: Customers may be able to make deferred payment arrangements by making a request through myEntergy, the mobile app or by calling 1-800-ENTERGY (1-800-368-3749) and following our automated response system menu.
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program: Funded through the federal government, LIHEAP helps low-income households meet their home energy costs by making payments on the customers' behalf directly to energy suppliers. Customers can visit entergy.com to learn how to apply for assistance.
  • Payment extension: Qualifying customers who need a few extra days to pay their bill can request an extension through myEntergy, the mobile app or by calling 1-800-ENTERGY (1-800-368-3749) and following our automated response system menu.
  • The Power to Care: Entergy partners with third party agencies that provide utility bill assistance for seniors, disabled individuals and programs that are income-based. Through Entergy's The Power to Care program, local nonprofit agencies provide emergency bill payment assistance to low-income older adults and individuals with disabilities. Learn more at entergy.com
  • To help our customers thrive, Entergy has donated funds to form a new partnership with Single Stop, a free, user-friendly website that makes it easy for customers to quickly and confidentially check eligibility for federal, state and local benefits.

Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans encourage customers who may need additional payment options to reach out. To see if customers automatically qualify for deferred payment arrangements or payment extensions, they can visit our mobile app or myEntergy.
