No more free RATs

Published on 01 July 2025

Since early 2022, more than 20 million free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) have been provided free of charge to South Australians.

In more recent times, SA Health allocated free RATs to councils to provide to those considered 'high risk' in our community. This included those who are elderly, immunocompromised and have disability.

As of 1 July 2025, no more free RATs will be provided to council. While we currently still have a few free test kits available, those eligible for the kits will be limited to one per person.

RATs are available for purchase from local chemists, supermarkets (when in stock) and online.
