Mount Sterling, KY-Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) announced the approval of $1,400,000 in federal funding through the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations process to support the Industrial Park Improvement Project in Montgomery County. Barr sponsored these funds being included in the funding package and President Trump recently signed the bill into law.
The funding was requested by the Montgomery County Fiscal Court and will be used to acquire property and complete critical site development improvements for a new industrial park, helping Montgomery County position for economic growth and job creation.
"This investment is a strong step forward for Montgomery County and for Central Kentucky's economic future," said Congressman Barr. "By improving infrastructure and preparing sites for development, we are making our region more competitive, attracting new businesses, and creating opportunities for good-paying jobs right here at home. I will continue to advocate for responsible federal investments that deliver real results for Kentucky families and communities."
The project will support essential infrastructure improvements, including water and wastewater systems, access roads, storm drainage, erosion control, and site grading, laying the foundation for a new industrial park capable of supporting future employers.
"This funding will allow Montgomery County to take a major step toward developing a modern industrial park that meets the needs of today's employers," said Montgomery County Judge/Executive Chris Haddix. "We appreciate Congressman Barr's commitment to ensuring our community has the infrastructure necessary to grow and thrive."
"This project is about being ready when opportunity shows up," said State Senator Greg Elkins (R-KY-28). "Too often, communities lose out on employers because the land isn't prepared or the infrastructure isn't in place. Congressman Barr helped change that for Montgomery County by securing funding that puts us in a position to compete for real jobs and long-term investment."
"This investment is really about the people who call Montgomery County home," said Jason Rainey, Executive Director of the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Industrial Authority. "When we invest in infrastructure, we're investing in stronger neighborhoods, more stable job opportunities, and a future where our kids don't have to leave the community to find work. We're thankful to Congressman Barr and our local leaders for supporting a project that helps Mount Sterling grow in a thoughtful way that benefits families across our county."
"This project is about being ready when opportunity shows up," said Spears Stilz, Chairman of the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Industrial Authority. "Too often, communities lose out on employers because the land isn't prepared or the infrastructure isn't in place. Congressman Barr helped change that for Montgomery County by securing funding that puts us in a position to compete for real jobs and long-term investment."
