Below is an excerpt from the Business Life Magazine:
Sharon Kwan is the Mayor of Arcadia and the first Asian woman to hold the office. A small business owner and longtime community advocate, she previously led the Rancho Santa Anita Property Owners Association for ten years and served on the boards of the USC Arcadia Foundation and the Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association.
As Mayor, Sharon is focused on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and building a vibrant, safe community for families and seniors. She believes true leadership comes from listening, serving with humility, and building trust through action. Sharon discussed her belief in caring leadership, "I have always believed that leadership begins with caring for the community you call home. That belief has guided me through every step of my journey, from business to neighborhood advocacy and now to public office. Don't be afraid to step forward, even if you are the only one in the room. Trust is built through consistency and follow-through, not titles."
As a mother of four and an elected official, Sharon knows work and family will never balance perfectly, but she believes "both can thrive when you set priorities and protect time for what matters."
Being an elected official has its benefits, she reported: "The most fulfilling part of this journey has been working alongside nonprofits and neighborhood groups. My election is meaningful not just for me but as a reminder to others that if you show up and care, your voice can shape the future."
