TAMPA, Fla. (December 29, 2025) - A new collection schedule is now available for the New Year holiday. In observance of New Year's Day, City of Tampa offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

  • Residential collection will be suspended on New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
  • Normal collection schedules will resume on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Commercial Collection

  • Collection service will be suspended on New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026, and collected on Friday, January 2, 2026.
  • Commercial customers with a 65- or 95-gallon cart should follow the residential schedule.
  • Commercial services will run with a one-day delay during New Year's Week through Saturday, January 3, 2026.

McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House

114 South 34th Street, Tampa, FL

  • The McKay Bay Transfer Station will close at noon on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
  • The station will be closed on New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
  • Normal operating hours will resume on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Christmas Tree Collection Service

The Solid Waste Department will begin offering curbside Christmas tree collection at no additional charge on Friday, January 2, 2026. To use this service, residents must:

  • Remove all decorations and lights from the tree
  • Cut tree limbs to four-foot lengths
  • Bundle limbs and place curbside on your regularly scheduled yard waste collection day

Note: Discarded lights and decorations are not recyclable and must be placed in your garbage cart.
