On January 20, the Mission of China to the African Union held Chinese New Year Reception in its new compound. H.E. Ambassador Hu Changchun, AUC Deputy Chairperson H.E. Monique Nsanzabaganwa, AU Commissioner H.E. Albert M. Muchanga, officials from African Union organs and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, envoys from African countries, and representatives of the China-AU Chamber of Commerce attended the reception. About 300 guests participated.
In his speech, Ambassador Hu reviewed the fruitful results of China-AU cooperation, introduced the significance of Chinese Foreign Minister H.E. Wang Yi's New Year visit to Africa, and expressed that China is willing to work with Africa to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
Monique warmly congratulated the Chinese New Year and pointed out that the African side was deeply moved for the Chinese Foreign Minister making Africa his first overseas destination at the start of the year for 35 consecutive years. The African Union is willing to work with China to make greater contributions to the development and revitalization of the global South.
At the reception, diplomats from the Mission of China to AU and African guests presented wonderful performances with distinctive features, and a lively and cheerful chorus of "Happy Chinese New Year" brought the atmosphere to a climax.
