STATEMENT: Rep. Dave Min Condemns EPA Repeal of The 2009 Endangerment Finding

Washington, D.C. - Representative Dave Min (CA-47) released the following statement following the Environmental Protection Agency's announcement that it is repealing the 2009 endangerment finding, the legal foundation for regulating greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act:

"The endangerment finding was based on overwhelming scientific evidence and has stood the test of time. It recognized a basic truth: greenhouse gas pollution is warming our planet and endangering public health.

Repealing it is not about lowering costs for families. It is about dismantling the legal foundation for clean air safeguards, including vehicle emissions standards and methane rules, while protecting polluters.

The administration claims this will make cars cheaper. What it will actually do is expose Americans to more pollution, higher health costs, and greater climate-driven disasters-from wildfires to flooding to extreme heat. Families in California are already facing rising insurance premiums and record heat. Rolling back safeguards will only make those costs worse.

This decision also relies on deeply flawed and controversial reports that have been widely criticized by leading scientific institutions. Courts have consistently upheld the EPA's authority to regulate greenhouse gases, and I expect this reckless action will be challenged immediately.

We should be investing in affordable clean energy that lowers utility bills, strengthens American competitiveness, and protects public health, not tearing down protections that keep our communities safe."
