Food Vending Enforcement Activity – March 5

On March 5, 2026 the City of San Rafael's Code Enforcement Division engaged in a joint effort with Marin County Environmental Health Services (EHS) to address unpermitted mobile vending that resulted in corrective actions at the following locations:
  • 933 Francisco Blvd: Taco stand selling food with no permits. EHS collected the food and disposed of it.
  • Medway: One vendor with two stands. Staff helped the vendor to set up a meeting with EHS to obtain permits to legally sell.
  • 309 Canal Street: Food vendor fled the scene, leaving one person who did not have more information. EHS collected the food and disposed of it.
  • 240 Canal Street: Repeat vendor was in the process of setting up. Staff helped the vendor understand the permitting process.
  • 615 B Street: Unpermitted mobile stand and seller was unwilling to provide any information. EHS collected the food and disposed of it.
The Code Enforcement Division works closely with EHS in this cross-jurisdictional effort. The City recently enacted a new Mobile Food Vending policy that includes both authority to enforce health and safety requirements as well as pathways to permits for those who want to legally operate.
