Energy Minister meets with Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with Maria Papakonstantinou, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Azerbaijan.

The meeting highlighted the importance of energy cooperation between the two countries, especially gas supplies from Azerbaijan through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), in the context of ensuring diversification, emerging favorable prices, protecting the environment and strengthening Greece's role as an energy hub. It was noted that last year gas supplies to Greece amounted to 1.1 bcm. Since the commissioning of TAP, 5.6 bcm of gas have been exported from Azerbaijan to Greece.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of expanding the successful cooperation in the energy sector to other areas. Discussed were also revolved around the cooperation opportunities in the fields of green energy, energy efficiency, and innovative technologies. The parties exchanged views on issues related to holding the next meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial and Technological Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece in Athens. Furthermore, the Greek side was invited to participate in the events set to be held as part of the Baku Energy Week with a large delegation.
