Uhersky Brod, South Moravia, Dec 19 (CTK) - Ceska zbrojovka, the Czech a manufacturer of small arms, has won an order from the German army and the Bundeswehr has chosen its pistol as its new service weapon, the company announced this in a press release today.
The company won the contract in an international tender, succeeding over several global competitors. It did not specify the price or the scope of the contract.
Ceska zbrojovka will work closely with its authorized partner in Germany - POL-TEC GmbH & Co.
The current joint stock company Ceska zbrojovka was established in 1992. However, the history of arms production in Uhersky Brod dates back to the 1930s. Colt CZ Group SE, its sole shareholder, is a leading global manufacturer of small arms and ammunition for the armed forces, personal defence, hunting, sport shooting and other commercial applications. It is headquartered in the Czech Republic, with production facilities in the Czech Republic, the USA, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and Hungary. It employs approximately 4,000 people.
