Norton Rose Fulbright advises on winning ‘deals of the year’ at Project Finance International Awards

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised on multiple winning deals across the Americas, Africa, Europe and Asia Pacific at this year's Project Finance International Awards (PFI).

The awards celebrate the year's most innovative deals and the market-leading contributions shaping the global project finance industry. The winners were announced in PFI's 2026 Yearbook, which highlights key activity from 2025 and anticipated focus areas and trends for 2026.

The Americas

Americas LNG Deal of the Year - Louisiana LNG

Led by Global Co-Head of Energy Noam Ayali, partner Blake Redwine, and partner Bryn Sappington

Norton Rose Fulbright advised Woodside Energy Group Ltd. on all aspects of its transaction to sell a 40 percent equity interest in Louisiana LNG Infrastructure LLC (Louisiana LNG), to an affiliate of Stonepeak. Under the landmark transaction, Stonepeak will provide US$5.7 billion towards the expected capital expenditure for the development, construction and operation of the 16.5 million tonnes per annum foundation development phase of the Louisiana LNG export terminal project. The final investment decision for the project represents the largest single foreign direct investment in Louisiana's history.

Americas Renewables Deal of the Year - Mammoth Solar

Led by partner James Berger

Norton Rose Fulbright advised lenders KeyBanc Capital Markets, HSBC Bank USA and Banco Santander in relation to the US$1.3 billion construction debt financing for three utility scale solar photovoltaic projects as part of the Mammoth Solar facility in Pulaski County, Indiana.

Africa

African Deal of the Year - Abydos II

Led by partners Chris Down and Daniel Metcalfe

Norton Rose Fulbright advised IFC and other DFIs on the financing to Abydos for Renewable Energy Company SAE, a subsidiary of AMEA Group, for the purposes of the construction and development of a 1000MW solar power project and 300MW/600MWh battery energy storage system to be located in New Benban, Egypt ("Abydos 2"). This follows our earlier advice relating to the financing, construction and development of a 500MW solar power project and subsequent bolt-on financing for a 300MWh battery energy storage system in Egypt ("Abydos 1").

Europe

Europe Transition Deal of the Year - Vulcan

Led by partners Daniel Metcalfe and Dirk Trautmann

Norton Rose Fulbright advised a syndicate of 13 financial institutions on a €1.185 billion debt financing package for operating subsidiaries of Vulcan Energy Resources Limited (Vulcan Energy) to develop its Phase One Lionheart integrated lithium and renewable energy project. The financing package, which has a 13-year tenor, will support the construction and development of Phase One of Vulcan Energy's Lionheart lithium and renewable energy project in the Upper Rhine Valley, Germany.

Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific Storage Deal of the Year - Supernode

Led by partners Claire Forster, Martin Irwin and Rebecca Hoare

Norton Rose Fulbright advised Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners in relation to financial close of Stage 1 BESS (250MW / 2hr) and Stage 2 BESS (250MW / 4 hr) of its Supernode Project, located in Brendale, Queensland. The AU$722 million financing is one of Australia's largest stand-alone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project financing.

Central Asia Deal of the Year - Sazagan

Led by partners Paul Mansouri and Nicky Davies

Norton Rose Fulbright advised on the project financing for the Sazagan 1 and Sazagan 2 solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Uzbekistan.
