SCDOT preparing for Hurricane Helene impacts

Columbia, S.C. (September 25, 2024)-The South Carolina Department of Transportation is preparing for potential impacts related to Hurricane Helene. Crews in the affected areas have begun preparing and are ready to respond.

The potential for rain, high winds, and risk of tornadoes means the possibility of debris and flooded roadways. Remember to never drive through standing water. SCDOT encourages anyone with an issue on a state-maintained roadway to call us directly at 855-467-2368.

The traveling public should be weather aware and stay tuned to official sources of information including the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, local officials and local broadcasts. ​
