Budrys met with the Chairman of the Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group with Lithuania

On 23 October, during his working visit to Japan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys met with Hirofumi Nakasone, Chairman of the Japan-Lithuania Friendship Diet Members' League.

At the meeting, the Minister underlined that Lithuania regards Japan as one of its most important strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

Budrys welcomed the active interparliamentary cooperation between Lithuania and Japan.

"Japan is a strategic partner for Lithuania. Our aim is to strengthen and expand this partnership across various fields - from joint projects in science, technology, defence and security, innovation, and economic security to closer cooperation on global issues. We share common security challenges stemming from revisionist authoritarian states, and therefore we need to work together to preserve the rules-based world order and democracy," the Minister said.

Budrys invited to expand joint Lithuania-Japan funding programmes in the priority areas of science and technology - life sciences, medicine, quantum physics and photonics - and to continue cooperation in the areas of strengthening economic resilience including investment, infrastructure protection and security of supply chains. The Minister emphasized that Lithuania offers Japanese companies favourable investment conditions and the possibility to enter the entire European Union market through Lithuania.
