Mayor Walt Maddox Appointed to Two Chair Roles by U.S. Conference of Mayors

Mayor Walt Maddox has been appointed by the U.S. Conference of Mayors to serve as Chair of the Mayors and Metro Universities Task Force and as Vice Chair for Philanthropy of the Public-Private Partnerships Task Force.

Established in the early 2000s, the Mayors and Metro Universities Task Force works to strengthen collaborations between cities and their university partners. Over the years, it has explored themes ranging from innovation and technology transfer to the approaches cities can use to help universities advance research and address local challenges.

The Public-Private Partnerships Task Force, created in 2022, raises awareness of the opportunities and challenges of public-private partnerships to address infrastructure needs. The task force works with mayors and leaders to identify best practices and opportunities across the country.

Mayor Maddox will serve the Public-Private Partnerships Task Force alongside the Chair, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. He will also continue his service as Chair of the SEC Mayors Alliance within the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
