UNM IT hosts reopening of ESC Pod, Open House at Lobo Lab

The University of New Mexico's Information Technologies (IT) Department invites the campus community to the grand reopening of the Engineering and Science Computer Pod (ESC Pod) on Oct. 27.

In addition, an open house for the newly renovated Lobo Lab will be held Nov. 4 from 2 to 2:50 p.m. at the ESC Pod on the first floor of the Student Union Building.

UNM President Garnett S. Stokes is scheduled to attend the celebration. The UNM Esports team will offer tours of its program in the north-side computer pod.

Visitors are also encouraged to visit the Lobo Lab to explore its new group study furniture and equipment. Light refreshments will be served.

The renovated ESC Pod and Lobo Lab feature updated study and collaboration spaces with enhanced Wi-Fi, updated computers, touchscreen drawing displays, movable glass boards and access to Adobe Creative Cloud tools.

Funding for the project was provided by Stokes as part of an initiative to reimagine the university's computer pods for group work and makerspace activities.

The pod will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the remainder of the fall semester.
