Three LU alumni named VISD Teachers of the Year
Three Lamar University (LU) alumni have been recognized as Teachers of the Year for the 2026-27 academic year in Vidor Independent School District, highlighting the university's continued impact on education across Southeast Texas.
The educators were honored at their respective campuses for their dedication to student success and excellence in the classroom.
Ashtchin (Castle) Kilmer, who earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2009, was named Vidor ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and Oak Forest Elementary School Teacher of the Year.
Adam Brown, a 2008 graduate with Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies, was named Teacher of the Year at Vidor Junior High School.
Amy Nash, who earned a Bachelor of General Studies in 2016, was selected as Teacher of the Year at Vidor Middle School.
The honors reflect the dedication of Lamar University graduates serving in classrooms throughout the region and their contributions to the success of local students and schools.
