Firefighters Battle Granada Hills House Fire; One Civilian Found Deceased
GRANADA HILLS - Los Angeles firefighters responded Sunday morning to a house fire in the 11600 block of North Swinton Avenue, where one civilian was found deceased after firefighters brought the blaze under control.

The Los Angeles Fire Department received the call at approximately 8:06 a.m. on August 24, 2026. Arriving firefighters encountered a one-story single-family home with fire and smoke showing and immediately began an aggressive interior fire attack.

The property also included an attached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) at the rear of the home. As firefighters worked to control the structure fire, flames spread into a small area of brush on the hillside behind the property. Crews quickly extinguished the burning vegetation before it could spread farther.

Swinton Incident Command declared the fire knocked down at 8:29 a.m., approximately 23 minutes after the initial 911 call.
Following control of the fire, firefighters located one civilian inside the home who showed no signs of life and was determined deceased at the scene. No additional information regarding the decedent is being released by the LAFD.

LAFD Arson investigators responded to determine the cause of the fire, and the Los Angeles Police Department was notified. LAFD Public Information Officer Captain Branden Silverman also responded to the scene to provide information regarding the incident.
