On Monday, 28 July, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys visited a camp for war orphans from Ukraine, organised by 'Strong Together' in Kintai.
Children from the cities of Dnipro and Mykolaiv are visiting the camp. Most of the children in the camp are soldiers' orphans who have lost one or both parents. Some children have lost their siblings. Some children's parents are seriously injured or fighting on the front line. During their stay in Lithuania, children participate in sailing, nautical training, and creative activities.
"The children will remember these experiences in Lithuania for the rest of their lives. Lithuania will always remain a special place for them. Being here is an opportunity to feel the spirit of a free, safe, and European country, which I hope will inspire them to pursue such a future for their homeland," Budrys said.
The Embassy of Lithuania in Kyiv and the Honorary Consuls of Lithuania in Ukraine also participate in organizing the camp and bringing the children to Lithuania. More than 400 war orphans have already been brought to Lithuania this summer from Ukrainian cities, including Dnipro, Lutsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Zviahel, etc.
