ASPPH Advocates for FY 2027 Public Health Funding Priorities on Capitol Hill

ASPPH Advocates for FY 2027 Public Health Funding Priorities on Capitol Hill

March 18, 2026

Earlier this week, ASPPH hosted its annual Hill Day, highlighting how federal investments empower academic public health institutions to improve the health and well-being of communities across the country and the globe. ASPPH's finalized federal funding priorities for fiscal year (FY) 2027 were reinforced during our Hill Day, which also provided ASPPH members with the opportunity to meet with congressional offices to discuss the importance of sustained federal investment in public health and to highlight ASPPH's FY 2027 appropriations requests.

Hill Day participants also referenced a letter from ASPPH to the leaders of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS-ED) Appropriations Subcommittees outlining these funding priorities. Over 50 participants, including ASPPH deans, directors, faculty, students, and alumni, met with their congressional delegations to raise awareness about federal investments that support academic public health.

ASPPH's requests span several key public health agencies and programs, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

We encourage all ASPPH members to reach out to their congressional offices, in coordination with their government relations staff, to reinforce these requests, especially those relevant to your institution.
