In response to JD Vance's visit to Ohio to tout the Trump administration's disastrous billionaire-first budget, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
"Today, JD Vance made a lousy attempt to spin Donald Trump's unpopular billionaire-first budget, but Ohioans aren't falling for their lies. As Americans face massive cuts to health care and food assistance programs and the largest wealth transfer in history from the working and middle classes to the ultra-rich, Vance is reminding everyone that the Trump administration is to blame. Because of Trump and Vance, rural hospitals will shutter their doors across the country and put lives at risk. Make no mistake: Trump and his MAGA cronies are screwing over hardworking American families all to give another massive tax handout to the ultra-wealthy."
Donald Trump's billionaire-first budget is wildly unpopular with the American people - and yet, Vance traveled to Ohio to remind people who's responsible for this disastrous bill.
Fox News: 59% of Americans oppose the GOP's budget bill, with only 23% saying the proposal will help their family and 49% saying it will hurt them.
G. Elliott Morris: "The OBBBA is also historic in another way: It is likely the most unpopular budget ever, is the second most unpopular piece of key legislation since the 1990s, and the most unpopular key law, period, over the same period."
KFF Health: An overwhelming majority of Americans, including one in three Republicans, disapprove of Trump's billionaire-first budget.
While in Ohio, Vance lied about the massive cuts to health care and food assistance programs included in the Trump budget.
Reporter: "What do you say to those hundreds of thousands of Ohioans that say they will have no health insurance?
JD Vance: "What I would say to those Ohioans is, 1) Don't believe every false media report that you've heard."
Trump's budget will devastate working Ohioans - killing jobs and ripping away health care and food assistance programs they rely on.
