"Collections of Carried Memories" features photographs by Teresa Tamura and Alejandra Regalado from the Boise State University Permanent Art Collection. The exhibit is curated by Isabel Fuhriman.
This intimate exhibition explores the connection between the objects we create/collect and our sense of self and place. Tapping into our human inclination to hold objects, Teresa Tamura and Alejandra Regalado each present printed, in contrasting black and white and in multicolor photographs, respectively, cherished, protected, and conveyed items.
Teresa Tamura, "Kogita's Table," 2003Teresa Tamura is a third-generation Japanese American born and raised in Idaho; she published her photographs of Minidoka with Caxton Press in 2013.
Alejandra Regalado, "Aztec Calendar on Amatl Paper," 2012Alejandra Regalado is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston, Texas. Her series "In Reference To Idaho" focuses on Idahoans' portraits and their possessions. Each artist opens up for us a visual world in which we can think about the things we carry.
