Mrvan Announces 2026 Congressional App Challenge

Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan announced the details of the 2026 Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students in Indiana's First Congressional District.

Each year, the Internet Education Foundation and Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor the Congressional App Challenge to foster an appreciation for computer science and STEM education. The Congressional App Challenge is an annual nationwide academic competition for middle school (6th - 8th grades) and high school (9th - 12th grades) students to create and exhibit their software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

Students in Indiana's First Congressional District are invited to compete against their peers in a challenge to create the best software application to represent our region at the House of Code reception in Washington, D.C. in the Spring of 2026. This competition is designed to promote innovation and engagement in STEM fields.

Congressman Mrvan stated, "I am thrilled to announce the 2026 Congressional App Challenge is now open to middle and high school students who are passionate about computer science and technology. This annual competition is a fantastic hands-on opportunity for students to code their own app and learn more about the STEM field. I look forward to seeing many innovative submissions from students throughout our region."

All students must register for the competition and submit their work through the Congressional App Challenge website by 12:00 p.m. ET on Monday, October 26, 2026.
