Mayor Erickson Announces Sioux Falls Listens Sessions

Location: Levitt at the Falls

While all feedback and community topics are welcome, the listening sessions will have target focus areas to help guide conversations. Those focus areas include arts and resident experience on October 21; business community on November 5; and economic development on November 12. The meetings will take place indoors at the Levitt.

Sioux Falls Listens Town Hall

The Sioux Falls Listens series will culminate in a community town hall on Wednesday, Nov. 18, where insights gathered throughout the process will be prioritized for recommendation to the mayor's transition team.

Time: 5:30-8 p.m.

Location: Cherapa Place, 300 N. Cherapa Place

The town hall will be held in the third-floor interconnect meeting space.

In addition to the scheduled in-person events, residents are encouraged to host their own Sioux Falls Listens conversations within their neighborhoods, businesses, nonprofits, workplaces, faith communities or other groups. A simple "Host Your Own Sioux Falls Listens Conversation" guide is available to help groups gather people, use three shared questions, capture key ideas and then bring those insights to the listening sessions so they become part of the broader community conversation.

For residents unable to join an in-person conversation or listening session, they can submit their feedback online.

Over the past several weeks, Mayor Erickson's 10-member transition team has divided into learning teams that have met with city employees and community stakeholders to identify opportunities, challenges and priorities across city government and the community. The teams include:

• Government operations and effectiveness
• Public safety, infrastructure, emergency management and essential services
• Growth, housing and economic vitality
• Community quality of life and resident experience

The transition team's goal is to better understand what is working well, where opportunities exist and what recommendations can help position Sioux Falls for long-term success. This work, and the feedback from Sioux Falls Listens, will shape the recommendations that can be adopted as priorities for the Erickson administration.
