Daytime Lane Closures Planned for US 17/SR 404 Spur Bridge Major Maintenance Project

Savannah, Ga. - Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) construction partners will implement lane closures as part of the US 17/SR 404 Spur Bridge Major Maintenance Project. The lane closures are necessary to provide safe access to perform additional inspections to support final design of the major maintenance project.

LANE CLOSURES:

Monday-Tuesday, April 7-8, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

  • Daily, daytime, single, right-lane closure northbound from Louisville Road, mile marker (MM) 0.75 to Savannah Harbor Parkway (MM 2.93).

Wednesday-Thursday, April 9-10, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Daily, daytime, single, right-lane closure southbound from the Savannah Harbor Parkway (MM 2.93) to Louisville Road, mile marker (MM) 0.75.

Friday, April 11, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Daily, daytime, single lane closure (northbound or southbound) between the Savannah Harbor Parkway (MM 2.93) and Louisville Road, mile marker (MM) 0.75.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and drive with caution through the work zone.

The US 17/SR 404 Spur Bridge Major Maintenance Project includes replacing the existing cables across the main span along with bridge bearings and bridge joints as part of planned maintenance for the cable-stayed bridge. The project will also explore shortening the cables to reprofile the existing bridge to obtain a higher vertical clearance to improve ship navigation within the channel.
