Wares Ferry Road Bridge Temporarily Closed Starting December 18

MONTGOMERY, AL - Beginning Thursday, December 18, the Wares Ferry Road bridge-located approximately 900 feet east of the intersection with McLemore Drive-will be temporarily closed until further notice.

The City of Montgomery encourages all residents to prioritize safety and review the detour map to plan alternate routes during the closure.

This closure follows a recent structural assessment that revealed damage caused by repeated use by vehicles exceeding the posted 3-ton weight limit. To ensure public safety, the City has determined that closing the bridge is necessary.

A detour route will be installed to help maintain traffic flow and reduce disruption for residents and commuters. The City is working diligently to address the issue and reopen the bridge as soon as it is safe to do so.
