Valdosta Fire Department and Valdosta Police Department Face Off in Battle of the Badges Community Blood Drive

The City of Valdosta is inviting the community to roll up their sleeves and take part in the Battle of the Badges Community Blood Drive, where the Valdosta Fire Department and the Valdosta Police Department will go head-to-head in a friendly competition to see which department can inspire the most lifesaving blood donations.

The event will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room.

Community members are encouraged to donate blood on behalf of either Team Fire or Team Police, with each donation counting toward that department's total. While only one team will earn bragging rights, every donation will help save lives and strengthen the local blood supply for patients in need.

The blood drive is hosted in partnership with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, whose donations help provide lifesaving blood products to patients served by SGMC Health and healthcare facilities throughout South Georgia.

"The Battle of the Badges is a great reminder that while our departments may compete for a day, we work side by side every day with one shared mission, serving and protecting our community," said Fire Chief Marcus Haynes. "Every blood donation has the potential to save a life, and we encourage everyone to come out, support their favorite team, and help make a real difference for local patients."
