Council proclaimed April 13-19 Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Grande Prairie.
The week recognizes the role public safety telecommunicators play on the frontline of emergency response and community safety and the compassion and professionalism of the staff at GP911.
The Grande Prairie Stompede Association presented to Council on their plans for 2025, their impact on the region and how the City can support.
The Bear Creek Folk Music Festival Society presented to Council for a funding request.
The Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games presented an update to Council on the planning and coordination of the upcoming games.
Council directed Administration to negotiate and enter into a sponsorship agreement with the Grande Prairie Stompede Association (GPSA) for the 2025 Grande Prairie Stompede, including a cash sponsorship in the amount of $10,000 from Council's Corporate Sponsorship Fund as the Thursday Night Family Dance Sponsor; and gift-in-kind contributions valued at $15,000.
Council directed Administration to negotiate and enter into a sponsorship agreement with the Bear Creek Folk Music Festival Society for the 2025 Bear Creek Folk Festival including a cash sponsorship in the amount of $50,000, to be funded from Council's Corporate Sponsorship Fund.
Council approved the 2025 Business Improvement Area (BIA) budget with a 0% increase.
Council passed a number of planning amendments supporting the development of a new recreational facility in Trader Ridge. The amendments address land use compatibility, road network adjustments, and zoning requirements to facilitate the project while minimizing impacts on surrounding areas.
