County Road 15A road closure and detour (Green Cove Springs)- Drivers can expect a multi-week closure on County Road 15A starting after April 15 for road work. We'll announce more details, including the detour route, as crews finalize the plan.
County Road 209 Riverside resurfacing (Green Cove Springs)- Crews anticipate beginning a milling and resurfacing project on County Road 209 Riverside from US 17 to Ivey Lane in late April. Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures once work begins. The project could take up to three weeks to complete.
Doctors Lake Drive resurfacing (Fleming Island/ Orange Park) - Crews will begin a milling and resurfacing project on Doctors Lake Drive from Peoria Road to Kingsley Avenue in mid-April. The project will be carried out at night and is expected to be completed within 4-6 weeks. We will provide updated start dates as soon as plans are finalized.
County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Peters Creek Bridge to US 17, Bonded Transportation Program project #2 (Lake Asbury)- Widen the roadway to four lanes with a median, turn lanes, bike lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks from CR 315B to US 17 and from CR 315 to south of Peters Creek Bridge. Drivers should expect single-lane closures, delays, and occasional weekend work through spring 2027. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents.
County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Sandridge Road to Peters Creek Bridge, Bonded Transportation Program project 3B- Widening and realigning the east end of Sandridge Road (CR 739B) where it connects to County Road 209B, along with operational improvements at the County Road 209 and County Road 209B intersection to improve traffic flow and safety. Motorists should expect a 25 mph low-speed zone and day and nighttime single-lane closures in the work area. The project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2026.
County Road 218, Bonded Transportation Program project #1 (Middleburg) - Widen and reconstruct a 2.7-mile roadway from Masters Road to Pine Tree Lane into four lanes with a median, turn lanes, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and bike lanes, and resurface the road from Cosmos Avenue to Pine Tree Lane. Drivers should expect lane closures, traffic shifts, and a 25 mph speed limit throughout the work zone. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents. Project completion is expected in summer 2026.
County Road 220 widening and reconstruction Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects (Middleburg/Lakeside) - Phase 1 work began in December 2024 and includes intersection improvements at Rideout Ferry Road. Phase 2 work began on January 20, 2025, and includes the construction of a new four-lane bridge over Little Black Creek. Both phases are expected to be completed in late 2026, with detours in place throughout the project. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents.
County Road 220 and Town Center Boulevard resurfacing from US 17 to west of Brookstone Drive (Fleming Island) - Crews began a resurfacing project on County Road 220 from U.S. 17 to Arena Road on March 30. Drivers should expect nighttime, single-lane closures, delays, and traffic shifts during construction. Work could take up to six weeks to complete.
County Road 315/ Cathedral Oak Parkway utility work (Green Cove Springs)- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures on County Road 315 north to Cathedral Oak Parkway Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for gas main installation work. We will update this notice when the work is complete.
Fifth Street boat ramp access closure (Keystone Heights)- The 5th Street Boat ramp access will be closed starting Friday, March 13, and will remain closed for approximately 180 days as crews work on the Lake Geneva Restoration Project.
Jefferson Avenue closure (Orange Park) - In June the County's Public Works Department closed off an area on Jefferson Avenue adjacent to Ridgeview Elementary School due to an unsafe subsurface structure. County officials made school leaders aware of the move, which is aimed to prevent vehicles from parking on the stretch. Pedestrian traffic is still permitted.
Live Oak Lane/Old Jennings Road paving and trail construction (Middleburg)- Construction of a new 3.5-mile, 12-foot-wide multi-use trail extending from Live Oak Lane/Old Jennings Road, along Long Bay Road, to the State Road 21 intersection. Work is nearing completion, with ditch work continuing for 2-3 weeks. Please observe the 25 mph speed limit on Live Oak Lane and drive safely.
Old Jennings Road/ Long Bay Road new traffic signal and intersection improvements (Middleburg) - Crews began installing a new traffic signal and making improvements at the intersection of Old Jennings Road and Long Bay Road in Middleburg on March 2, 2026. Drivers should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures and traffic shifts managed by flagging crews during the work. This is a busy area, especially during morning and afternoon peak hours. Drivers should slow down and follow all construction signs to ensure everyone's safety.
Walburg Street closure (Green Cove Springs)- Walburg Street closed on Monday, January 6, 2025, and will remain closed for approximately 12 months during the construction of the new Clay County Economic and Development Services building.Blue Jay Drive and Mallard Road new sidewalk construction (Middleburg)- crews will begin construction of a new sidewalk on Blue Jay Drive from County Road 218 to Harvest Way, and on Mallard Road from CR218 to Widgeon Court in early April. Drivers should anticipate intermittent daytime single-lane closures and lane shifts as work gets underway.
Evergreen Lane sidewalk installation (Lakeside/Middleburg) - Construction began the week of December 2 near Doctor's Inlet Elementary School as part of the Safe Routes to School program. The project will expand sidewalk connectivity along several nearby streets to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety and help reduce school traffic. Drivers should expect intermittent daytime single-lane closures and traffic shifts during construction.
Jefferson Avenue sidewalk replacement (Orange Park) - Intermittent daily lane closures and a full sidewalk closure on Jefferson Avenue started June 3. Crews are replacing the sidewalk on Jefferson Avenue between Harrison Avenue and Washington Avenue. We will update this notice when the work is finished.

Northbound double lane closures for Buckman Bridge work planned April 3-6: As part of a project to replace the finger joints on the Buckman Bridge, continuous northbound double lane closures are planned Friday, April 3, through Monday, April 6, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. Two outside lanes of I-295 North over the Buckman Bridge will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 4 a.m. Monday. Additionally, the ramp from San Jose Boulevard (State Road 13) to I-295 North will be closed, with motorists detoured via Old St. Augustine Road to access I-295 North. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and plan additional time for travel.

Additional ramps at First Coast Expressway and State Road 16 interchange to open April 1: The final two ramps at the First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) and State Road 16 will open to traffic Wednesday, April 1. With the ramps open, drivers will be able to enter southbound First Coast Expressway from State Road 16 and exit from northbound First Coast Expressway onto State Road 16. Opening the ramps is expected to alleviate traffic congestion related to the Clay County Agricultural Fair, which runs from April 2 through April 12.
