Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated in the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in the Gymnich format, held in Limassol, Cyprus, on 27 and 28 May 2026.
The ministers discussed current foreign policy and security challenges, with a focus on the Middle East and the wider region, energy and infrastructure security, migration, economic resilience, and strengthening European defence capabilities.
Grlić Radman underscored the importance of an integrated European approach to security, linking defence, energy, the economy, protection of external borders, critical infrastructure, and societal resilience, in full complementarity with NATO. He reiterated his strong condemnation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and stressed the importance of continued comprehensive European support for Ukraine, including strengthening its defence resilience. He also highlighted the importance of merit-based enlargement as a geopolitical instrument of the European Union.
At the invitation of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the discussion was also attended by India's Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
