Congresswoman Simon to Vote NO on Republican Budget Resolution

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) released the following statement on her upcoming vote against the Republican Budget Resolution.

"I will forcefully vote NO on the Republicans' Budget Resolution this week. I refuse to support a budget that cuts critical health care, education, and nutrition programs for families, while increasing tax cuts for the wealthiest.

"The Republican Party has championed the cause of 'efficiency,' callously firing dedicated federal workers who ensure air traffic safety, administer Social Security and Veterans Affairs benefits, keep our National Parks running, help small businesses thrive, and more - yet the Republican budget resolution seeks to increase borrowing to $2.8 trillion dollars and add nearly $4 trillion to the deficit. Make it make sense.

"The priority of the government should be to serve all American people, but it's clear that the priority of the Republican Party and the Trump Administration is just cruelty. I refuse to support their efforts and the budget resolution."
