Celebrating the Spirit of the Holidays: Community Volunteers Bring Hope and Joy to Incarcerated Women at ASPC-Perryville

Perryville, AZ - This holiday season, the Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC)-Perryville witnessed the transformative power of community support and volunteerism through two heartwarming Christmas events:

On December 13, 2024, Crown of Glory hosted the Lalo the Clown Event. This magical evening featured Lalo the Clown, whose performance spotlighted his illusions, humor, and heartfelt messages of resilience. Drawing on his own experiences with incarceration and recovery, Lalo served as a relatable and inspiring figure for attendees. The event's highlight came when Lalo recreated a whimsical snowfall inside the visitation room, accompanied by nostalgic music reminiscent of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. His performance captivated the audience, many of whom were moved by his message of renewal and faith.

On December 16, 2024, Prison Fellowship hosted the Hope Event, a nationwide initiative that introduces incarcerated individuals to the hope and love of Jesus Christ. This inspiring event featured motivational speakers, vibrant musical performances, dynamic hip-hop dancers, and even a live nativity scene. While offering a momentary escape from the challenges of incarceration, the event also provided an opportunity for participants to connect with a faith-based community, fostering transformation and hope.

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR) is deeply grateful for the ongoing partnerships with organizations like Prison Fellowship and Crown of Glory. These events uplift spirits and serve as a powerful reminder of volunteer groups' importance in supporting incarcerated individuals through shared humanity.

As the holidays remind us of the importance of connection and giving, the ADCRR celebrates these impactful volunteer-led efforts that bring light and hope to those on the path to rehabilitation.
