University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) has welcomed Yhana Chavis, DO, MSEd, to the medical staff at the Requard Radiation Oncology Center, located in the Cancer Center at UM SRH in Easton. Dr. Chavis brings extensive clinical training and specialized expertise in cutting-edge radiation therapies to the UM SRH cancer care team.UM SRH is a member organization is of the University of Maryland Medical System.
Dr. Chavis recently completed her Radiation Oncology Residency at Fox Chase Cancer Center-Temple Health in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her training included comprehensive rotations at multiple community sites, including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. During her training, she was also able to further diversify her clinical expertise by completing an elective rotation at the Hospital Oncológico Dr. Isaac González Martínez in San Juan, Puerto Rico, gaining specialized experience in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and eye plaque brachytherapy.
Throughout her medical training, Dr. Chavis has been recognized for both clinical and academic excellence. Her honors include the 2024 Clinical Excellence Award and the 2023 Emerging Advocacy Grassroots Leadership (EAGL) Scholarship presented by the American Society for Radiation Oncology. She is proficient in Spanish as well as English and has published in the field of radiation oncology.
Prior to her radiation oncology training, Dr. Chavis completed an Internal Medicine transitional year at Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields, Illinois. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020. Dr. Chavis also holds a Master of Science degree in Education in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Agnes Scott College.
