Georgia DOT Welcomes Clarke Johnson as New District 6 Communications Specialist
WHITE, GA. - The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is pleased to announce the selection of Clarke Johnson as the new District 6 Communications Specialist, serving northwest Georgia.
Johnson brings more than 25 years of experience in broadcasting, public communications and community engagement to the position.
Prior to joining Georgia DOT, Johnson spent much of his professional career with Rome Radio Partners in Rome, Georgia, where he held several leadership positions, including Program Director, Senior Traffic Director, and Copy and Continuity Director.
In addition to his management experience, Johnson has an extensive background in on-air broadcasting and public information. His work has included providing timely updates during severe weather, traffic incidents and other situations affecting local communities. He has also served as a sports broadcaster, covering local high school and collegiate athletics, as well as providing color commentary for the Rome Braves.
"Clarke brings a wealth of communications experience and a strong understanding of the communities we serve in northwest Georgia," said Scott Higley, Director of Strategic Communications. "His background in broadcasting, public information and community engagement will be a tremendous asset to our district as we continue working to keep Georgians informed about transportation projects, roadway conditions and safety initiatives."
As District 6 Communications Specialist, Johnson will help coordinate public information efforts across northwest Georgia, working with district leadership, local governments, news media and community stakeholders. His responsibilities will include communicating transportation project updates, road closures, traffic impacts, safety initiatives and other information important to motorists and residents throughout the district.
"I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Georgia Department of Transportation and continue serving the communities of northwest Georgia," Johnson said. "After more than 25 years in broadcasting and communications, I understand how important it is for people to receive clear, accurate and timely information. I look forward to working with the talented team at Georgia DOT
Johnson succeeds Joe Schulman, who served as Georgia DOT's District 6 Communications Specialist for seven years before accepting a new position with the department as P3 Communications Program Manager.
Georgia DOT District 6 is headquartered in White, Georgia, and oversees state transportation infrastructure throughout northwest Georgia.
